I’ve heard many descriptive words when it comes to accounting and maybe it’s because most people don’t find accounting as exciting as accountants do. Here’s how to make your accounting less painful:
Outsource
Most small businesses use QuickBooks Online to maintain their accounting records. Instead of doing this yourself, you can outsource this to your accountant or an accounting/bookkeeping staff.
Update
The bulk of accounting transactions are derived from bank and credit card statements, which then have to be categorized into QuickBooks. If you set aside time each day, week or month, it helps to avoid getting behind on updating your accounting records.
Work with a Professional Regularly
When using QuickBooks, it significantly helps when your QuickBooks file is being looked over by your accountant throughout the year, instead of just once a year. This way, your books and records do not spiral out of control and maintain integrity.
Use the Software as Intended
Take advantage of the software’s features that help to save time and make your accounting more accurate. Examples include: setting up categorization rules, merging duplicate vendors, customers and categories, and reconciling your bank and credit card statements.
